Renting a car with hotel delivery in Albania works in every major city — Tirana, Durrës, Golem, Vlora, Saranda and Shkodra. Whether you search for it as delivery to an Airbnb, city delivery instead of airport pickup, or just the name of where you’re staying — Golem, Qerret, Mali i Robit, Ksamil — it’s the same option. What it costs is the part nobody explains.

I own an apartment in Qerret, on the Durrës–Golem strip, and I’ve arranged this both ways — collecting at Tirana Airport and having the car brought to the door. For guests staying on the coast, delivery is usually the simpler of the two.

How Car Rental with Hotel Delivery Works in Albania
You pick a city, tick the City delivery filter — the same option some sites call hotel pickup — and choose a car. The address comes later — at the booking step, not the search step.
Delivery is charged as a fixed fee in each direction. One to bring the car, one to collect it. It doesn’t scale with the length of your rental, which is why it barely registers on a two-week trip and can wreck the maths on a three-day one.
The biggest factor isn’t your resort name — it’s where the car is based. An operator with a vehicle parked ten minutes away charges almost nothing. One sending a car down from another city prices the drive in.
That total already includes delivery, so what you see is what you pay. But compare totals, not daily rates — the daily rate hides the fixed fee inside it.
And there’s a seasonal gap on top: in January an operator will often bring the car out for nothing, while the same journey in August costs fifteen euros each way.

Why Some “Hotel Delivery” Listings Are Meeting Points
Worth knowing before you book anywhere.
On some platforms, “Durrës Hotel Delivery” isn’t a service at all. It’s the name of a supplier’s meeting point, and it behaves like one.
Testing DiscoverCars in July 2026, listings labelled Durrës Hotel Delivery resolved on the final booking screen to a Meet & Greet at Durrës Port instead — on every car I tried, with all filters cleared. Saranda behaved the same way and dropped me at the port. Vlora offered exactly one pickup point: the airport, which still has no scheduled flights.
That’s a taxi ride from most of the beach strip before your rental has even started, and you only find out at the final booking screen — after you’ve already picked the car.
The alternative is straightforward. You choose the city, type your actual street address at the second step of the booking, and the operator brings the car there. So whichever site you use, take the booking to the final booking screen and check what the pickup point actually says — or search a platform where the address delivery is set up this way from the start.

Tirana Hotel Car Delivery — Usually Free
The easiest of the lot. Most fleets are based here, and a lot of listings carry a free delivery badge outright. Delivery to a Tirana hotel or Airbnb is normally free or a few euros.
Rent a Car in Durrës with Hotel Delivery
Mixed, and worth ten minutes of comparing. The city has real local fleets, so some cars arrive for a fiver each way. Others in the same list come down from Tirana and charge many times that for the same journey.
Car Rental in Golem, Qerret and Mali i Robit
Type “Qerret” into the pickup field and nothing comes back. Search for a car in Mali i Robit and you’ll get the same blank result. They’re not missing.
Qerret is a village inside the Golem administrative unit, Kavajë municipality. Mali i Robit is a quarter of Golem. The whole beach strip is legally Golem, and that’s the only name the booking systems carry. Select Golem, then type your actual address at the booking step — apartment delivery works exactly the same way as delivery to a hotel.
Several hundred cars list city delivery on this strip in peak season. Stacking no deposit, no credit card and full coverage removes roughly two thirds of the listings — and what’s left is still plenty to choose from. Delivery here swings harder than anywhere else in the country: a fiver each way on one listing, many times that on the next one down the page. This is the best place in Albania to compare before you click.

Car Hire Vlora with Hotel Delivery — Why It Costs More
Expensive in peak season, and scrolling won’t fix it. Filter for delivery to your hotel in August and the cheapest car in the entire list still lands well above what you’d pay further north, delivery included.
In my DiscoverCars test, Vlora fared no better — the only pickup point on offer was the airport, which isn’t running scheduled flights yet.
If Vlora is your base for a summer week — apartment delivery, a villa, anywhere along that stretch — price up collecting the car in Tirana and driving down instead. The motorway is good and it often comes out ahead.
Saranda and Ksamil Hotel Delivery
Sensible middle ground. Delivery ran around fifteen euros each way in my August test, with far less spread than Golem or Durrës — fewer out-of-town cars padding the list.
Arriving on the Corfu ferry? Renting in Saranda lets you skip Tirana completely.
Shkodra Hotel Delivery
Behaves like Vlora. Price up a few compacts and the delivery line runs high, while the cheapest cars aren’t cheap. If Theth or Valbona are next, collecting a suitable car in Tirana and driving up is usually the better call.
Always Book with Full Coverage
This is the part that costs people real money.
The base price on most local listings includes third-party liability only. That covers damage you do to somebody else’s car and nothing at all on the one you’re driving. Scrape a wall in a Ksamil side street on minimum protection and the bill is yours in full.
Add full coverage at the filter stage rather than at checkout, so you only ever see cars that offer it. Some don’t.
It still isn’t unlimited — tyres, glass and undercarriage are the usual gaps. What Albanian policies exclude is worth five minutes before you book.
Is the 20% a Deposit or a Prepayment?
This trips up more people than anything else about getting a rental car to your hotel.
The prepayment is 15–20%, paid by card when you book. It isn’t held or blocked — it’s the first slice of the rental price, deducted from what you owe on arrival.
The balance you settle at handover: cash, Visa or Mastercard, depending on the operator. It’s stated on the car’s page before you commit.
The deposit is separate and refundable. Plenty of cars want none. Others ask €100–€200 — and where it applies, it’s often payable in cash and handed straight back at drop-off.
Can You Rent Without a Credit Card in Albania?
Yes, and it’s the norm rather than the exception. The big comparison sites will tell you Albania requires a credit card because debit isn’t accepted for deposits. That’s the airport-counter market, not the local one. Run a search for delivery near your hotel with no payment filters at all and you’ll find “no credit card” tags on listing after listing.

Where Do You Meet the Car?
Your voucher arrives by email with the operator’s contact details. Most work through WhatsApp, and that’s where the handover gets arranged.
Here’s what nobody tells you before the first trip: street addresses barely function in Albania outside the city centres. Roads have names on paper, buildings rarely carry numbers, and in the resort areas the numbering that does exist follows no order you’d recognise. Typing your address into a message achieves very little.
Hotel names work. The operators know the big properties along each strip, and “the Melia in Durrës” gets you a car.
Apartments and Airbnbs are the problem, and that’s where the pin comes in. In WhatsApp, tap the attachment icon and choose Location — either share live location or drop a pin on the map. A Google Maps link pasted into the chat does the same job. Send it the day before, not on the morning.
If your building sits inside a gated complex or down an unnamed side street, don’t fight it. Agree a landmark on the main road instead: a petrol station, a supermarket, a hotel sign. Walking fifty metres beats twenty minutes of phone calls in two languages.
At handover, film the car. Most operators do this themselves and send you the video. If they don’t, do it yourself: all four sides, wheels, windscreen, interior. Thirty seconds, timestamped. It settles every argument that might otherwise happen at drop-off. Photograph the fuel gauge too — the policy is same-to-same.
Can You Return the Car to a Different Address?
Hotel drop-off doesn’t have to be the same address you started from. Usually yes, for a fee. Same hotel, a different one, or Tirana Airport for an early flight.
Arrange it when you book, not the night before. It goes into the booking that way instead of being negotiated by message at eleven at night, and the fee is agreed before you’ve handed over any money.

Local fleets, real photos, a proper delivery filter, and a car brought straight to your address. Whether you call it hotel pickup, city delivery or just skipping the airport counter, the fee is shown as its own line inside the total — so you can see it and switch cars because of it.
